Cleaning maintains the cleanliness of the internal components and ducts of supply and extract air systems through work carried out at regular intervals or as recommended.

Ventilation duct cleaning requires skilled staff and an advance assessment of the site. The client and building users must also be informed in good time. Cleaning is carried out using good working practices, leaving the premises safe and ready for use.

Cleaning methods. Methods include mechanical cleaning with hand tools or specialist machines, combinations of these and chemical cleaning. Specialist machines are generally used at larger sites, offices, hospitals and other premises where duct size, shape or requirements set particular standards for supply and extract duct cleanliness.

Excessive ventilation is a significant source of wasted energy. Excessive airflow also causes draughts. Effective ventilation requires adequate airflows that match the design.

Initial balancing checks operation against the design and verifies that airflows are sufficient. Its purpose is to achieve the designed airflow rates. Balancing is carried out with the airflows at maximum output.

Our instruments. We use high-quality precision measuring instruments to set airflows as accurately as possible, saving energy and providing an even air supply. Instruments are calibrated according to their manufacturer's instructions.

Regular servicing is important to avoid inconvenient downtime when faults develop in ventilation units.

Bearing condition often receives attention only once it causes a disturbing noise. Replacing the bearing can often still resolve the problem at this stage, but if the bearing fails completely, the whole motor will probably need replacing.

Bearings in rotary heat exchangers (heat recovery wheels) are often forgotten until it is too late. A bearing failure can damage the bearing housing and shaft, substantially increasing the cost.

Commercial cooking causes grease to accumulate around the cooking area. Airflow carries it into the ducts and onwards to the rooftop extract fan, creating a fire hazard over time and obstructing airflow.

Cooking facilities and comparable specialist sites with a high fire risk are cleaned mechanically and chemically. The system must allow cleaning: the required access panels must be installed in compliant locations, and terminal devices selected and positioned so that cleaning is possible without damaging ducts or structures.

How often should grease ducts be cleaned? The Finnish Ministry of the Interior decree on cleaning ventilation ducts and equipment (802) requires grease ducts to be cleaned annually. Is it time to clean your grease ducts? Contact us to arrange a visit.

A cooker hood removes cooking fumes, moisture and grease and is often an important part of a home's ventilation. When filters clog or the damper and motor no longer work properly, extraction weakens and grease can build up in the ducts.

Encapsulating fibre sources. Exposed fibre sources in ventilation systems, such as sound attenuators, can cause respiratory irritation and should be addressed promptly. Encapsulation treats exposed fibre surfaces with a substance harmless to health that prevents fibres from being released while preserving sound attenuation.

Ventilation systems usually cover the entire building. Faults can therefore occur across a wide area, and a fault in a critical location can affect many people in an office building, for example. A ventilation failure can quickly make conditions uncomfortable.

Ventilation also depends on properly functioning electrical and automation systems. Repairs may be needed to auxiliary relays, contactors or time switches, for example. Rooftop electrical equipment in particular needs inspections to prevent issues such as water reaching live parts.
